I went to VanPelt yesterday after class and read a Walter Licht book called "Getting Work". The notes I typed out are in a .pdf in the course folder under "Historic Research". It's a great book for getting some background info on Philadelphia's industrial history. I also read the Disston entry in a catalog of manufacturers called "Philadelphia and Its Manufacturers" and put its notes up too, although it talks about Disston when his factory was still on Laurel St. Both books are available at Van Pelt in the Rosengarten Reserve, which is down the stairs and straight back when you first enter the library. You'll go through a little turnstile and there is a reading area with stacks in the back. Call numbers for both of these are in the HC-HD range and they're right next to each other (don't have the exact numbers on me at the moment). Right now I'm starting "Industrializing America" by Licht and will post those notes as soon as I'm finished....
