Big Picture:
Industry was central to the story of Disston/Tacony and served as the economic driver that spawned the residences, parks, social and religious institutions which served the workers. Can adaptive reuse of the industrial parcels be used to generate new economic development, encourage the influx of more families and support a more viable retail environment? Will designation work without a vision that focuses on economy and opportunity as well as history?
Draft Approach:
Focus on where/how a historic nomination should fit within a holistic program that addresses the general economic, commercial, architectural (upkeep?) integrity of this traditional family –oriented neighborhood. This approach would call for building/ use survey for

Historical Research: Group to determine what information is required and perform a target search through the archives as archives are large not catalogued but sorted by subject.
Mapping: Prepare base for building/ use survey overlay.
